Blending Instructions Using Penray Inhibitors

FOR CONVENTIONAL TECHNOLOGY

ONE: Bulk Penray Inhibitors should be well agitated before and during addition to the glycol. This will ensure that the antifoam, which tends to float, is thoroughly mixed in. This is especially important when blending antifreeze for sale in the state of Florida , which tests antifreeze by running the foam test.
TWO: Good agitation of the glycol is essential. A mixer or air sparge can be used. They glycol MUST be agitating BEFORE starting to add the Penray Inhibitor.
THREE: DO NOT exceed the following addition rates of the inhibitor into the glycol:

This translates into a total addition time of a little over 2 hours. Accidentally adding too fast can be avoided by using a narrow line (1″) and a low power pump. After the addition, the batch should be blended until the TA is in specification.
Adding the inhibitor too quickly or with inadequate agitation of the glycol can lead to silicate dropout.
FOUR: Penray inhibitor concentrates should NEVER be pre-blended into less than the final volume of glycol or have glycol added to them.

FIVE: While packaging, the antifreeze batch should be well agitated. This will ensure that each jug of antifreeze contains the proper amount of antifoam.

FOR HYBRID TECHNOLOGY (PENRAY 2705)

Glycol:

The entire required amount of glycol should be charged first. Penray inhibitor concentrates should never be pre-blended into less than the final volume of glycol or have glycol added to them. The glycol should be between 65 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit to completely dissolve the inhibitors in a reasonable amount of time. Agitation in the mixing tank should be good enough to form a vortex.

Liquid Addition (Penray 2705A):

All Penray liquid inhibitor packages should be well mixed before and during addition to the glycol. Proper mixing will ensure that the anti-foam ingredients, which tend to float, are completely incorporated into the batch. This is especially important when blending antifreeze for sale in the state of Florida where antifreeze is evaluated by running a foam test.

The agitation must be on in the glycol tank before starting to add the Penray inhibitor.

The Penray liquid inhibitor concentrate should be added slowly. Adjust the rate of addition so that it takes a little over 2 hours to add the full amount. Accidentally adding too fast can be avoided by using a narrow line (1″) and a low power pump. Adding the inhibitor too quickly or with inadequate agitation of the glycol can lead to silicate dropout.

Liquid addition must be complete before adding solids.

Powder Addition (Penray 2705 Part B):

The agitation must be on in the glycol mixture tank before starting to add the Penray inhibitor. A good vortex should be visible to ensure that the powdered components are drawn down into the glycol and don’t just float around in circles on top.

The solid inhibitor blend must be added slowly and distributed evenly into the glycol mixture. Pouring in a steady stream of dry material or dumping in a large amount at once can cause the powder to form gelatinous clumps that are hard to disperse and dissolve. A good way to ensure proper dispersion is to fit a piece of expanded metal with ¼ inch or smaller openings over the tank inlet and allowing the powder to “sift” through it.

Allow the solids to mix with constant agitation for at least 2 hours. Stopping the agitation before all of the solids have dissolved may cause them to settle and stick to the bottom of the tank. A simple way to check for completion is to draw a sample and look for suspended solids. The finished product will be clear when complete.

Conventional Inhibitor 2797

Formulated for automobiles and light-duty gasoline/diesel powered trucks.

Penray 2797 is an advanced antifreeze inhibitor package featuring a low-silicate, phosphate-free formula to provide trouble-free service in autos and light-duty gasoline or diesel trucks.

Antifreeze/coolant made with glycol consistent with ASTM E1177-14 and Penray 2797 is compatible with specifications listed below. Penray 2797 offers easy, economical, efficient blending procedures. A concentrated formula, Penray 2797 is added to pure glycol at 2.2% volume to achieve the product specifications and benefits. Adding an additional 2% of water is optional to minimize product cost. The finished product will meet ASTM automotive (light-duty) specifications and may also be used in diesel engines with traditional supplemental coolant additive.

Store above 40°F (5°C) to prevent gelling.

ELC Corrosion Inhibitor 2798

Formulated for automobiles and light-duty gasoline powered trucks.

Penray 2798 is an organic acid technology (OAT) corrosion inhibitor system. This antifreeze inhibitor package features a silicate-free, phosphate-free and amine-free formula providing trouble-free service.

Antifreeze/coolant made with glycol consistent with ASTM E1177-14 and Penray 2798 is compatible with GM Dexcool® brand antifreeze and other specifications listed below . It is also compatible with similar “orange” carboxylate inhibited antifreeze brands. Penray’s 2798 single system technology offers the easiest method of manufacturing an OAT engine coolant.

Store above 75°F (23.8°C) to prevent gelling.

Blending Instructions: 50/50 Pre-dilute coolant contains 3.25% by volume of 2798
Concentrate Contains 6.5% by volume of 2798

ELC Corrosion Inhibitor 2798EG

Formulated for automobiles and light-duty gasoline powered trucks, contains ethylene glycol

Penray 2798EG is an organic acid technology (OAT) corrosion inhibitor system. This antifreeze inhibitor package features a silicate-free, phosphate-free and amine-free formula providing trouble-free service.

Antifreeze/coolant made with glycol consistent with ASTM E1177-14 and Penray 2798EG is compatible with GM Dexcool® brand antifreeze and other specifications listed below. It is also compatible with similar “orange” carboxylate inhibited antifreeze brands. Penray’s 2798 single system technology offers the easiest method of manufacturing an OAT engine coolant. 2798EG contains ethylene glycol for low temperature storage. A propylene glycol version (2798PG) is also available.

Store above 50ºF (10ºC) to avoid gelling.

ELC Corrosion Inhibitor 2798N

Formulation for heavy duty diesel engines includes nitrite, excludes silicate, phosphate and amines

Penray 2798N is a nitrited organic acid technology (NOAT) ELC corrosion inhibitor concentrate for heavy-duty diesel engines. This antifreeze inhibitor package contains nitrite and molybdate for heavy duty wet sleeve liner protection. 2798N is silicate-free, phosphate-free and amine free. Contains molybdate.

Antifreeze/coolant made with glycol consistent with ASTM E1177-14 and Penray 2798N is compatible with CAT EC-1 and other specifications listed below. Penray 2798N offers the easiest method of manufacturing NOAT technology antifreeze or engine coolant.

Antifreeze made with 2798N may be operated 300,000 miles. Adding a heavy duty NOAT ELC extender increases service to 600,000 miles.

Store above 75ºF (23.8ºC) to avoid gelling.

ELC Corrosion Inhibitor 2798NEG

Contains ethylene glycol and nitrite, excludes silicate, phosphate and amine

Penray 2798NEG is a nitrited acid organic technology (NOAT) ELC corrosion inhibitor concentrate for heavy-duty diesel engines. This antifreeze inhibitor package contains nitrite for heavy duty wet sleeve liner protection. 2798NEG is silicate-free, phosphate-free and amine free. 2798NEG has the same corrosion protection as Penray’s popular 2798N and contains ethylene glycol for low temperature storage.

Antifreeze/coolant made with glycol consistent with ASTM E1177-14 and Penray 2798NEG is compatible with CAT EC-1 and other specifications listed below. Penray’s 2798NEG single system technology offers the easiest method of manufacturing a NOAT antifreeze/coolant offering outstanding performance for heavy-duty diesel engine cooling systems.

HEAT TRANSFER FLUID 2796K

Penray 2796K

Penray 2796K is a specially designed package of industrial corrosion inhibitors for use in ethylene or propylene glycol based heat transfer fluids. The recommended dosage in 100% glycol is 4% by volume (2% in 50% glycol). Solutions in water provide freeze protection to below –50°C (-60°F) and burst protection to below –73°C (-100°F).

Suitable applications for Penray 2796K inhibited heat transfer fluids are closed-loop, water-based HVAC, process heating and cooling, and food industry applications.

Recommended temperature range: -50°C (-60°F) to 120°C (250°F).

Antifreeze/coolant made with glycol consistent with ASTM E1177-14 and Penray 2792 is compatible with CAT EC-1 and other specifications listed below. Penray 2792 offers easy, economical, efficient blending procedures. A concentrated formula, Penray 2792 is added to pure ethylene glycol at 2.2% volume to achieve the product specifications and benefits. Adding an additional 2% of water is optional to minimize product cost. The finished product will meet ASTM heavy-duty specifications and may also be used in diesel engines with traditional supplemental coolant additive.

Hybrid Corrosion Inhibitor 2706

Nitrited Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (N-HOAT) for heavy-duty & automotive applications.

Penray 2706 is an advanced hybrid antifreeze/coolant inhibitor package that combines conventional low silicate and organic acid chemistry for cost effective, superior protection against corrosion. This hybrid technology inhibitor provides exceptional protection against wet sleeve liner pitting/cavitation and cooling system corrosion.

Antifreeze/coolant made with glycol consistent with ASTM E1177-14 and 2706 may be used in heavy duty diesel engines. Penray’s 2706 single system technology offers the easiest method of manufacturing a N-HOAT antifreeze/coolant.

Store above 32°F (0°C) to prevent freezing.

Penray 2706 is typically yellow, but special colors are available.
